Last chance to vote your favourites onto the Bristol Walk of Fame - 09/01/12

Bristol Zoo Gardens is asking members of the public to vote their favourite local icons onto the Bristol Walk of Fame.

Last spring (2011) Bristol Zoo unveiled the Bristol Walk of Fame to celebrate the best of Bristol as part of the Zoo’s 175thbirthday celebrations. The walk features 49 of the city’s most renowned people, places and icons from across the historic, creative, sporting and wildlife spectrum.

This week is your last chance to vote for the 10 icons you think should be added to the illustrious list in spring. Voting closes at the end of the day on Monday January 16th2012.

To cast your vote from a list of 41 icons, simply visit the Zoo’s website at www.bristolzoo.org.uk/walk-of-fame-2012. The public can vote for up to 10 icons each.

The new inductees will join current icons such as Banksy, Massive Attack, The Wurzels, Cary Grant, Ian Holloway and Bill Bailey.

Wendy Walton, Head of Commercial Operations at Bristol Zoo, said: “The Bristol Walk of Fame aims to celebrate the city’s most renowned people, places and icons from across the historic, creative, sporting and wildlife spectrum. The fact that the icons are voted for by the public makes it even more special as it is the people’s choice.”

The Bristol Walk of Fame is a trail of specially designed plaques within the grounds of the Zoo, with each plaque bearing the names of famous inductees, and is sponsored by local organisation Mama Bear’s Day Nursery and Pre-school.

Bristol Zoo Gardens is a conservation and education charity and relies on the generous support of the public not only to fund its important work in the zoo, but also its vital conservation and research projects spanning five continents.
