Filton College at Bristol Zoo - Animal Sciences and Horticulture

Want to work with animals? Then this is your chance to learn about animals, from everyday care to behaviour and management. The Animal Management and Conservation Team at Filton College and Bristol Zoo Gardens can help you gain an industry-recognised qualification, and unique, hands-on experience. At the same time, you can enjoy excellent facilities, and the support of experienced, enthusiastic lecturers.

Our courses range from entry level to level 5:

• Entry level, Introductory Certificate, Diploma in Land and Environment

• Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care

• Level 3 Diploma in Animal Management
• Veterinary Nursing 3


We also offer an extensive horticulture programme with an opportunity to do practical work at Bristol Zoo Gardens and Hollywood Towers. Qualifications range from entry level through to RHS-accredited qualifications at levels 2 and 3.

Integrated Wildlife and Conservation Foundation Degree

Launched in September 2010, Bristol Zoo Learning Department and its partner the Bristol Conservation and Science Foundation have joined with Filton College and the University of the West of England to deliver a new two year foundation degree.  For the most part, this is based at the Zoo, and takes a biological approach to the study of wildlife conservation issues using the Zoo’s resources and experience to demonstrate the practicalities of conservation.
